Rich Shelton's Photo Equipment Reviews

Plantation Road in Southern Louisiana

There is a lot of debate in the internet newsgroups about which cameras, lenses, scanners, and printers perform better than others.  There is nothing better than a visual comparison, so that's what I've started here.   As I get the time, I plan to add to these comparisons using my own gear, as well as any that I can borrow or scrounge...

Fuji S1 Pro Review   Here's a review of a great Digital SLR  I wrote for an online Magazine.

Correcting The Fuji S1 Green Color Cast   Use Qimage Pro 2001 to fix this problem with an otherwise great camera!

Large Format Image Quality
Here's a sample of how good large format images really are.  Anyone want a 425 megapixel camera???

Free 360-Degree Panorama Software!   I tried a new software package from www.pixaround.com that works just great.  The only caveat is that I tweaked their web page generator to make the panorama larger...

How Do I Choose the Right Scanner?   I put this guide together in response to many e-mail inquiries.  It should help people new to digital photography understand the differences between scanners.  Take a look!

HP Photosmart Scanner Versus the Nikon Coolscan LS-2000.  This is a comparison of two completely different film scanners.  The old HP Photosmart reviewed here was a fantastic bargain at a price of $299.  The new HP Photosmart is much better and only $399.  The Nikon is much more capable, but at $1500 is a little pricey.

Tokina 20-35 mm f/2.8 ATX Pro Zoom Lens Versus the Nikon 24mm f/2.8 Prime LensThere has been a lot of talk about the quality differences between zooms and primes, as well as the differences between third-party manufacturers and the Nikon/Canon/Minolta/Pentax crowd.  This is a bit of an unfair comparison, but the Tokina held up quite well...

Quickstitch Panorama Software.   Take several photographs sided-by-side and stitch them together automatically!   A great, cheap product.
